 HOSTING A BENCHMARKING WORKSHOP

You will be able to learn best practices and harvest leading ideas to help develop and deploy your chosen strategic initiative. This harvesting will take place from expert speakers, representatives of leading organisations across a variety of industries and from the workshop participants via facilitated think tank discussion sessions.

Workshop Benefits

  • Learn from and network with guest speakers in an action packed day
  • Participate in the 'Hands-on' innovative learning
  • Participate in facilitated discussion about strengths of leading practices with other delegates
  • A comprehensive workshop manual is issued for all delegates
  • Delegate and speaker contact list provided
  • Share the learnings, and experience through benchmarking knowledge exchange
  • Our Benchmarking Code of Conduct protects confidentiality and privacy

Your role as a host

Your organisation’s role in hosting a workshop would be to:

  1. Identify a topic and initial scope to suit your learning needs*
  2. Provide a training room type venue with tables/chairs to suit up to say 25-40 people set out to facilitate interaction. The room size and layout may vary depending on the type of workshop and size of the group.
  3. Provide a datashow projector, electronic whiteboard, laptop with CD and USB drive, overhead projector and blank transparencies and pens and scribe to take Memory Jogger Notes
  4. Provide a quality sandwich lunch and access to tea/coffee on arrival of delegates, and for the morning/afternoon tea breaks
  5. Fund internet economy airfare, accommodation and other expenses of invited speakers from best practice organisations and for any topic experts as well as Benchmarking Partnerships – we will book these for you and invoice you the actual costs (negotiable by you inviting other organisations to participate to defray our costs)
  6. Invite your customers and suppliers to participate in the workshop – see item 7 below
  7. Benchmarking Partnerships receive our income by inviting workshop participants from our networks who have similar learning needs to attend the workshop on a fee-paying basis. Your invited customers and suppliers also pay us a discounted fee to participate in the workshop – these fees are recovered by Benchmarking Partnerships

Benchmarking Partnerships does the rest - allowing your people to be guests to participate, seeking input from you in the design of the workshop topics you would like to hear from / you may even have a list of organisations or contacts that we could broker for us to link in presenters where you have alliances/ or wish to work with in the future? Your organisation would present or share a key topic / strength as well to help set the scene for the learning and sharing on the day.

We access the speakers and arrange the program and do the marketing to attract participants from a range of industries. – the host organisation is required to help with marketing to their customers and contacts to attract participants in your local markets - you can have up to 5 of your people attend to benefit from the workshop as you see fit without workshop fee. Invited customers from the host would register via Benchmarking Partnerships. We organize the workshop and facilitate it. We do all the post workshop work of contacts lists etc.

In addition, a 6th person from your organisation would be the scribe to collate Memory Jogger Notes and in this way learn by interacting with the speakers – this is a good opportunity for a new graduate or other development opportunity.

We provide workshop manuals for all attendees, nametags, presentation and facilitation material.

Outcomes from the workshop include a full contacts list of speakers/ attendees alike for on-going networking/ facilitated notes, lessons learnt, outstanding practices shared etc.

All participants and speakers would abide by our Benchmarking Code of Conduct attached, to set the rules of behaviour - ie keeping the sharing within the workshop organisations and not disclosing any information without agreed consent with the IP owner/ contributor on the day.

We conduct over 30 similar workshops each year.

Each workshop can be followed up by more detailed hands-on action planning workshopping facilitated by Benchmarking Partnerships and a topic expert – narrower scope and more depth of knowledge.

Alternatively – the workshop can lead to a Partnership Benchmarking Network or Community Partnership.

If you wish we can facilitate a systems view for you to fine tune your key learning needs / scope and for your people to understand the principles of benchmarking for a quoted fee + travel costs

In certain circumstances Benchmarking Partnerships may have existing workshop programs that are scheduled with speakers where a host venue has not as yet been nominated. Organisations may request Benchmarking Partnerships to host such workshops and a participation fee for 5 participants will be waived if Benchmarking Partnerships is satisfied the host organisation can meet the catering needs, room hire, datashow projector, electronic whiteboard, flip chart use and provide a scribe for the workshop day/s.
